Subject: Guitar with Mold

Hello Mr. Fawcett. I recently aquired a Gibson hollow body electric
guitar. I *had* to return the guitars' case due to extreme mold scent
coming from the plush quasi-velvet lining. The guitar itself still has
mold spores alive inside the instruments body. I'm allergic to mold,
been tested. Every time I play this instrument I'm getting an allery
attack. Any way to kill the mold inside the guitar? Or shall I just
return it? Thank you, Rick Del Savio

Rick,

Thank you for the email.

Although your guitar can be treated successfully, I believe it will need
to be professionally treated.

The procedure that would be used is as follows;

1) Remove strings
2) HEPA vacuum interior body
3) Treat body with Anabec Advanced Systems Cleaner either by wiping
and/or atomization
4) Thoroughly dry
5) Encapsulate interior body with Anabec Anashield
6) Thoroughly dry

I can think of no reason the sound quality would be altered or the
guitar damaged in any way.

The cost to treat this instrument would be approx. $300 plus shipping.
This is assuming the instrument has a reasonable value. If this is a
highly valuable instrument then there is an increase of liability and
therefore the price would increase accordingly.

Should you have questions please do not hesitate to email me.

Sincerely,
