| This from the NY Post 8/27/04 "Music puts kids' IQs on high note. Kids
can tune up their brains and boost their IQs by taking music lessons.
New research shows that 6-year-olds who learned how to play an
instrument for one year gained more points on IQ tests compared to other
children of the same age who didn't. Scientists at the University of
Toronto said benefits included higher scores in math, language and
spatial skills. Previous studies suggested a link between intelligence
and involvement in music, but until now, it was not known whether IQ
increased. The findings are published in the lates issue of the journal
Psychological Science." Rick |
